Following a successful opening in Dallas, Indian street food restaurant Kati Roll Co. (TKRC)  plans to open a Plano store near Legacy at 5588 State Highway 121, suite 100.

According to Dallas Business Journal, the newest location is set to open the second week of June, bringing authentic Indian cuisine to Plano.

Kati rolls, a beloved street food ubiquitous in Kolkata, India, derive their name from the term kati, meaning skewer. These rolls feature skewer-grilled fillings such as meats and vegetables encased in buttery paratha flatbread, garnished with chutneys and spices. TKRC utilizes halal meats, marinated fresh daily on-site, to craft its lassis using homemade organic yogurt.

“What sets TKRC apart is the quality of its ingredients including all halal meats, antibiotic and hormone-free chicken, hand-ground spices and fresh produce,” TKRC said on its website. “We marinate all of our ingredients daily and never ever use pre-packaged foods or sauces.”

The inception of TKRC traces back to Payal Saha's journey from Kolkata to New York City, according to the company. Despite lacking restaurant management experience, Saha’s craving for genuine kati rolls fueled her determination. TKRC debuted in 2002 in a cozy corner of New York City’s Greenwich Village.

Since then, it has opened several locations across Manhattan, London and recently, Dallas. TKRC opened at 1322 Elm St. in downtown Dallas on April 8, 2024. The Dallas restaurant features 2,200 square feet of space and can accommodate up to 50 people. According to Culture Map Dallas, selecting North Texas’ prime location within the bustling Dallas Central Business District seamlessly fits into the company's framework. Consistent with their model, all other branches reside in downtown areas frequented by office workers, a pattern reinforced by their predominantly daytime operating hours.
