Plano-Richardson Police Academy Celebrates 20th Graduation

Throughout 1,080 hours of rigorous training, recruits were prepared for law enforcement's demands

The Plano-Richardson Police Academy celebrated the graduation of its 20th Basic Peace Officer Class (BPOC 20) on May 2, 2024. Police recruit officers from the Plano, Richardson, Allen, McKinney and Frisco Police Departments completed their training, which began on October 16, 2023, after undergoing 1080 hours of rigorous instruction, including both theoretical and practical components, these recruits were tested and prepared for the demanding realities of law enforcement.

Among the outstanding performers was Recruit Officer Luther of the Frisco Police Department, who clinched the coveted Overall Top Cop Award for excelling in academic performance, physical fitness and firearms proficiency. Similarly impressive was Recruit Officer Kael of the Plano Police Department, who secured the title of valedictorian with an exceptional 97% overall GPA.

Physical fitness achievements were also recognized, with Recruit Officer Moultrie from the Allen Police Department earning the top physical fitness award. Noteworthy was the significant improvement shown by Recruit Officer Pena of the Frisco Police Department, who was honored with the most improved in physical fitness award after a remarkable 53% enhancement between initial and final assessments.

Recruit Officer Pena also secured the top shot marksmanship award with a combined final average score of 94% in firearms training. Leadership within the class was acknowledged, particularly the efforts of the leadership team led by class president Recruit Officer Luther.

The collaboration between the departments and instructors has been instrumental in their success.”
