This fall, Nobu Dallas will celebrate two decades in the city with a rare appearance from the man behind the global empire. On Sept. 24, acclaimed chef and restaurateur Nobu Matsuhisa will return to Dallas for a 20th Anniversary celebration at Nobu’s Uptown location at The Crescent.

The ticketed event, running from 6:30 to 9 p.m., promises a dynamic evening of live chef stations, handcrafted cocktails and lively entertainment. Guests will also have the opportunity to meet chef Nobu himself. Tickets are $250 per person, plus tax, and the event is limited to guests 21 and over.

A Global Brand With Local Roots

Nobu Dallas first opened in 2005, bringing Matsuhisa’s signature “Nobu Style,” a fusion of traditional Japanese cuisine with Peruvian influences, to North Texas. The Dallas location is part of the broader Nobu brand, which began in New York City in 1994 as a collaboration between chef Nobu, actor Robert De Niro and producer Meir Teper. Today, the brand spans more than 50 restaurants and 16 hotels across five continents.

The Man Behind the Brand

Born and raised in Saitama, Japan, Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa began his career in a Tokyo sushi bar before venturing to Peru, where he developed his innovative, cross-cultural culinary approach. After stints in Argentina, Japan and Alaska, Nobu settled in Los Angeles, opening Matsuhisa Beverly Hills in 1987. The restaurant quickly attracted a celebrity following, including De Niro, who later encouraged Nobu to open his first namesake restaurant in New York.
