Chef Omar Flores is set to debut his latest culinary venture, Maroma, this September in the Dallas Design District. Located at 1333 Oak Lawn Avenue, within the newly constructed Thirteen Thirty Three Building, the restaurant will offer a modern take on coastal Mexican cuisine.

A Taste of the Coast

Maroma’s menu will highlight the best of coastal Mexican fare, featuring ceviches, aguachiles, seafood dishes and mesquite-grilled meats. With a focus on pristine seafood and prime steaks, each dish will emphasize a sophisticated yet simple approach. The restaurant’s offerings are designed to be shared, making it perfect for communal dining.

Chef Omar Flores: A Culinary Journey

Chef Omar Flores has deep roots in the restaurant world, having started his culinary journey in his family’s restaurants in El Paso. After completing a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management from New Mexico State University and graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, he gained experience at top restaurants across the U.S.

Flores later made a name for himself in Dallas at Driftwood, where he earned four-star reviews from the Dallas Morning News and was named one of the city’s best chefs. He was also nominated by the James Beard Foundation for ‘Best Chef Southwest’ in 2015 and 2016.

A Growing Hospitality Empire

Maroma is the latest addition to Chef Flores’ growing roster of successful restaurants under Big Dill Hospitality. The group’s popular concepts include Muchacho, a Tex-Mex favorite and Even Coast, a fresh seafood and steakhouse located in Addison, which opened in 2024. Muchacho earned recognition in D Magazine’s 2024 ‘Best of Tex-Mex’ issue.
