During the Feb. 5, 2024 session, the Collin County Commissioners Court approved a $60 million agreement for key infrastructure projects, including the McKinney National Airport Runway Extension and Panther Creek Parkway developments, integral to the US 380 expansion plan.

According to the agenda, funds for the McKinney project, totaling $30 million, are sourced from regional toll revenue, while the Panther Creek initiative secures $30 million from federal surface transportation block grant funds.

The Panther Creek Parkway project, slated for completion by 2025, aims to expand from a four to a six-lane roadway from Dallas North Tollway to Preston Road. Currently in the design phase, the project anticipates completion by the end of 2025, promising improved accessibility and mobility within Frisco.

Simultaneously, the McKinney National Airport's runway extension project is set to conclude later this year and will extend the runway by 1,500 feet, catering to increased air traffic demands. As previously reported by Local Profile, in 2024, the airport will begin and complete several projects aimed at improving travel and creating more opportunities for further development. According to the city of McKinney, construction will begin on the new 40,000-square-foot corporate hangar 10 in early spring.
