Cattlemen’s Steak House, a Fort Worth icon since 1947, is undergoing a multimillion-dollar renovation led by filmmaker and native Texan Taylor Sheridan, along with partners David Glasser and Dan Schryer. The upgrades include an expansion of dining, bar and event spaces, as well as the launch of Cattlemen’s Club, a new members-only social and dining experience set to open summer 2025.
Despite the changes, the team’s mission is clear: preserve the charm that made Cattlemen’s a Stockyards staple for over 75 years. Longtime head broiler William Ford, who’s been with the restaurant for 45 years, remains on the team. Part-owners Marti Taylor and Larry Heppe are also staying on board.
“Fort Worth is a vital city… deserving of a gathering place for those who both shaped this city’s past and guide its future,” said Sheridan in an official statement.
A Club Rooted in Western Legacy
Cattlemen’s Club will seat 130 members and offer private access via an exclusive elevator. Designed by Tyler Duncan of Duncan Design Group, the interior fuses frontier grit with upscale finishes — think hickory woods, red leather seating and copper bar tops. A stone patio with a fire pit and music stage will host performances curated by Sheridan and his team.
“The goal was to create a space that feels both grounded and elevated,” said Duncan. “We drew inspiration from the raw beauty of Western aesthetic, pairing natural textures with bespoke craftsmanship to create an atmosphere that is warm, intimate, and undeniably luxurious.”

Keeping the Grill Hot
Renovations will preserve the restaurant’s open-fire, live oak charbroiling method — still performed in full view of guests. The steakhouse has remained open throughout construction and thanks patrons with a weekly dinner giveaway to families who share visit videos online.
Located at Exchange Avenue and Main Street in the heart of the Fort Worth Stockyards, Cattlemen’s continues to draw more than 115,000 guests each year. The surrounding district welcomes nearly 10 million annual visitors.
More to Come
The project arrives alongside broader plans for Fort Worth’s Stockyards, including a billion-dollar redevelopment effort recently approved by the City Council. Sheridan’s SGS Holdings Group, which focuses on western lifestyle ventures, has more hospitality concepts in the works.
