North Texas will soon be able to enjoy the delicacy of Tim Hortons. The Canadian multinational fast-food restaurant is known for its focus on coffee, baked goods, donuts and sandwiches.
A filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration shows that Tim Hortons is set to utilize a space spanning 1,640 square feet. The anticipated cost for the construction of the new quick-service restaurant is approximately $900,000.
Coppell City Councill approved the rezoning for the restaurant chain on July 11, 2023. The coffeehouse will begin construction in Coppell, Texas in March 2024. But an opening date for the restaurant is yet to be determined.
According to Dallas Business Journal, Ali and Emad Lakhany, brothers and restaurateurs based in Houston, are leading the introduction of Tim Hortons to North Texas as franchisees. After their parents emigrated to the U.S. from Pakistan in the 1960s, they owned and operated several Popeyes locations in Houston.
Following the establishment of the first Tim Hortons just outside Houston in 2022, Emad Lakhany, who serves as the Chief Development Officer of CSM Group, said he was hoping to open the Coppell location by the end of the second quarter in 2024.
"We tried their products and fell in love," Ali Lakhany previously said. "They have fresh products at great price point for our customers, which is key for us. In addition, their food and beverage options cater to people of all ages with new and innovative products constantly coming down the pike. Bringing Texans affordable, fresh options that the whole family can enjoy, is exactly what we were looking for."
Emad Lakhany told the Dallas Business Journal that other Tim Hortons locations are expected to come to North Texas, but it is too early to tell exactly where.
Established in 1964, Tim Hortons originated in Canada. With over 4,800 restaurants worldwide, the company has grown to be a global presence. Currently, there are 634 Tim Hortons locations with only two in Texas — Houston and Katy. The first North Texas location will be at 440 N. SH 121, Coppell.
