School is out and while the weather is forgiving, it’s the perfect time to have an adventure in North Texas on DART.

With 90 miles of light rail and 62 stations, DART opens up a world of possibilities for North Texas families seeking fun staycation adventures. The Dallas Arts District is the largest arts district in the nation, boasting three museums, several performance venues, and buildings by four Pritzker Prize-winning architects. The district is bordered by Klyde Warren Park, a deck park over Woodall Rodgers Freeway that connects downtown and Uptown Dallas. The popular spot has become Dallas’ “front yard.” It’s all within blocks of the St. Paul and Pearl/Arts District stations, or right along the M-Line Trolley.

Consider exploring the Bishop Arts District, located just outside of downtown, which offers a unique blend of boutiques, bakeries and foodie-friendly bistros that line the sidewalks of this quaint historic neighborhood. Beginning in late August, the Dallas Streetcar will whisk riders from downtown’s Union Station right to the heart of the bustling Bishop Arts District. Until then, use DART’s free D-Link shuttle.

When it comes to dining, DART can get you there, too—whether you are looking for casual dining or a more upscale restaurant experience. Steps from Downtown Plano Station, you have numerous choices, from brick-oven pizza to Tex-Mex cuisine. Mockingbird Station also offers access to restaurants that will satisfy just about every palette, taste and budget. Or you can take the Orange Line to Las Colinas Urban Center Station and stroll along scenic Lake Carolyn to Las Colinas Boulevard where you will find abundant dining, including Japanese, Italian and American fare.

There are, of course, lots of other opportunities in North Texas to connect with nature. You could stroll through the 27-acre Farmers Branch Historical Park, located along the Green Line at Farmers Branch Station. From the Downtown Plano Station, tour the Interurban Railway Museum and enjoy a picnic at Haggard Park.
