According to, the summer solstice marks the official start of astronomical summer and the longest day of the year. This event occurs when one of Earth's poles is tilted toward the sun at its most extreme angle. Due to Earth's tilt, this happens twice a year: in June for the Northern Hemisphere (when the Southern Hemisphere experiences the winter solstice), and in December for the Southern Hemisphere (when the Northern Hemisphere experiences the winter solstice).

The June solstice has a rich historical tradition of celebrations. In ancient times, this date was crucial for organizing calendars and determining the optimal times for planting and harvesting crops. It was also a favored season for weddings and other traditional festivities. But of course, you can also celebrate the solstice with a great pint of ice cream!
