Crimes of the Heart on Stage!

Crimes of the Heart, first popularized as a stage drama and then as the 1986 movie starring Jessica Lange, Diane Keaton and Sissy Spacek, comes to Allen Community Theatre starting January 29.

This tearjerker is about how an untimely death haunts a trio of sisters, yet their love proves stronger than any familial tragedy. Lenny, the oldest, unmarried at 30; Meg, the middle, is back after a failed singing career; while Babe, the youngest, is out on bail after having shot her husband. The three are clearly not mirror images of one another, which becomes quite clear through the death of Old Grandaddy. However, when one of the girls is pushed to the brink by desperation, they come together during a improvised reunion.

The original story by Beth Henley is brought to life on stage by Allen Community Theatre’s director Robin Coulonge.
