Once Again, DFW Airport Named Best In North America

Surprise? For the third year in a row, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) landed top honors for its customer service. Recognized by Airports Council International World with the 2024 Airport Service Quality Award, DFW continues to raise the bar for traveler experience among the world’s busiest hubs.

A Three-Time Winner: DFW’s Customer Experience Excellence

DFW’s 2024 ASQ Award marks its third consecutive win in the large airport category for facilities serving over 40 million passengers annually. Based on feedback collected through third-party customer surveys, the award is a global benchmark for airport service quality.

"Traveling through DFW isn’t just about getting from one place to another – it’s about experiencing exceptional service at every step," said Ken Buchanan, DFW’s executive vice president for revenue management and customer experience, in an official statement. “This continued recognition from our customers highlights the impact of our investments in innovation, infrastructure and people, which together create exceptional airport experiences every day.”

Those investments include updates to terminals, expanded dining and shopping, biometric screening technology and sustainable design initiatives — all focused on improving the passenger journey.

McKinney National Airport Begins Commercial Era

But DFW isn’t the only airport making waves in North Texas. While it celebrates continued excellence, McKinney National Airport (TKI) is preparing for takeoff in a new direction. On July 18, McKinney city officials broke ground on a commercial terminal that will welcome airline service to one of the nation’s fastest-growing regions.

For over 40 years, TKI has served general aviation traffic. Now, with a new 46,000-square-foot terminal designed by Dallas-based Corgan, the airport is aiming to relieve pressure from DFW and Dallas Love Field while offering residents of Collin County a closer and more efficient travel option.

"This new terminal is not just an investment in McKinney, it’s an investment in the future of North Texas,” said McKinney Mayor Bill Cox. “As our city has grown over the past two decades, we’ve focused on making smart, strategic investments that benefit our residents and the broader region.”

What to Expect from the New Terminal

The future terminal at McKinney National is designed with simplicity, efficiency and passenger comfort in mind. Key features include:

  • Four gates, with infrastructure to expand to six
  • Centralized food and beverage concessions
  • Ample seating areas for travelers
  • Parking for up to six commercial aircraft
  • A public lot with 980 spaces and capacity for 1,450 cars
  • On-site car rental services
  • A deicing area for winter operations
  • A new taxiway to support smoother airfield movement

With a focus on modern design and a more streamlined passenger experience, McKinney’s terminal is expected to be a game-changer for local travelers — especially those trying to avoid long commutes to major airports.

North Texas Takes Flight

From DFW’s continued global recognition to the new opportunities emerging at McKinney National, North Texas is proving it’s a powerhouse in aviation. As the region grows, so do its options — ensuring travelers have more choices, better service and easier access to destinations near and far.
