uke Colton, a rising senior at Frisco’s Wakeland High School, earned a coveted spot on the 2025 U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team, solidifying his status as one of the nation’s top junior golfers.

Colton will join 11 other standout athletes (six boys and six girls) on the coed team heading to New York from Sept. 23 to 25, 2025. The international competition will take place at Nassau Country Club, with singles matches at the legendary Bethpage Black course. It’s the first time the Junior Ryder Cup’s singles will be played at the official Ryder Cup venue.

Back-to-Back State Champion

Colton’s golf résumé includes back-to-back UIL 5A state championships and a runner-up finish his freshman year. He is currently ranked No. 2 on the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) rankings and was named a First Team Junior All-American in 2024.

In April, he was selected to the U.S. National Junior Team. That same month, he helped the team defeat Canada 16-8 at Champions Golf Club in Houston. Colton is committed to playing collegiate golf at Vanderbilt University.

Coached by PGA Golf Instructor Andrew Lewis, Colton continues to be a standout example of Frisco’s youth golf scene.

Junior Ryder Cup Returns To The U.S.

The 2025 U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team is led by PGA of America Past President Suzy Whaley. The group includes a mix of junior champions, national team members and top-ranked players.

“We have an incredibly talented team lined up for September,” she said in a press statement. “This international showcase of golf’s next generation is designed to continue to build international friendships among the top junior golfers in the world.”

Team USA will be looking to reclaim the title after a 20½–9½ loss to Europe in Rome in 2023. The U.S. currently leads the all-time series 7-4-1.

What’s At Stake

The Junior Ryder Cup is played in the lead-up to the Ryder Cup and mirrors its format, with two days of foursomes and four-ball matches, followed by singles play.

Team members must be U.S. citizens graduating in 2026 or later. Selection is based on a combination of AJGA rankings, tournament performance and points earned throughout the season.

Colton joins a roster of decorated juniors, including:

  • Miles Russell, No. 1 in AJGA and Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings

  • Lunden Esterline, 2025 Boys’ Junior PGA Champion

  • Asterisk Talley, 2025 Girls’ Junior PGA Champion and No. 2 in AJGA

  • Zoe Cusack, runner-up at the 2025 Girls’ Junior PGA Championship

The final round of singles play at Bethpage Black will take place on the eve of the 45th Ryder Cup, making it a high-profile moment for these young athletes.

A Frisco Golfer On The Global Stage

For Colton, representing the U.S. is more than a personal milestone — it’s a chance to compete on golf’s biggest junior stage. With a decorated record, a college commitment and a strong support system behind him, Colton will bring both Texas grit and national pride to New York this fall.
