Frisco drivers, get ready for a maze of lane closures. The Dallas North Tollway (DNT) widening project is picking up speed, with multiple ramps and mainlanes closing from July 20 through July 26.
It’s all part of a massive infrastructure expansion designed to keep pace with Frisco’s explosive growth — especially north of the Sam Rayburn Tollway, where new development is reshaping the city’s profile.
Why All the Closures?
The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) is adding one lane in each direction between SRT and US 380, aiming to ease congestion and improve access to business, residential and entertainment districts. The project also includes reconstructing the DNT bridge over Fields Parkway, a key intersection for future development.
The widening is expected to wrap up in late 2025, but until then, commuters will need to navigate periodic closures and detours. For alternative routes and maps, visit the link here.

Frisco’s Billion-Dollar Transformation
These traffic headaches are a symptom of Frisco’s bigger ambitions. The $10 billion Fields development, led by Fehmi Karahan, is a master-planned mixed-use juggernaut with homes, offices, retail and hospitality. Add in the PGA headquarters, the Universal Kids Resort under construction and a slew of supporting businesses, and it’s clear: Frisco is no longer a sleepy suburb.
With a skyline rising and infrastructure to match, Frisco isn’t just playing catch-up — it’s stepping into the big leagues of DFW. Or as some locals are already calling it, DFFW.
