The city of McKinney just fired up its biggest concrete jam session yet. Dubbed Roadstock, this major infrastructure tour hit the streets on July 11, replacing concrete panels on two of the city’s busiest roadways. It’s a multi-phase spectacle that’s expected to keep the cones and hard hats rocking well into 2026.
What to Expect from Roadstock
Much like a tour that hits all the major stops, Roadstock focuses on replacing damaged concrete panels and restriping along Eldorado Parkway and Virginia Parkway. Both corridors are vital east-west arteries in McKinney, heavily trafficked by commuters, residents and businesses alike.
Work on Eldorado Parkway began first, with crews tackling the stretch between Ridge Road and U.S. 75. Construction will progress in one-mile increments:
- Ridge Rd. to Lake Forest Dr.
- Lake Forest Dr. to Hardin Blvd.
- Hardin Blvd. to Country Club Dr.
- Country Club Dr. to U.S. 75
Once Eldorado is complete, attention will shift to Virginia Parkway, with work starting in January 2026 and continuing through late that year. Phases include:
- Stonebridge Dr. to Ridge Rd.
- Ridge Rd. to Lake Forest Dr.
- Lake Forest Dr. to Hardin Blvd.
- Hardin Blvd. to Jordan Rd.
- Jordan Rd. to U.S. 75
Weather permitting, the entire project is expected to take 12 to 18 months.
Traffic Impact and Access
Construction will inevitably bring some traffic delays, but the city has committed to maintaining at least one open lane in each direction throughout the work. Access to homes and businesses along the corridors will remain open, with crews coordinating closely to minimize disruptions.
Why Roadstock?
The city chose the Roadstock name to bring a bit of levity and branding to a necessary but often inconvenient public works project. The aim is simple: improve road safety, ensure smoother driving experiences and extend the life of two major McKinney thoroughfares.
For residents, it’s a long tour ahead, but one that promises a better ride when the work is done. For more information on construction and Roadstock’s timeline, visit the link here.
