Arlington, Texas Selected To Host MexTour Soccer Match

Arlington, Texas was recently selected as a host city for “MexTour,” an annual event where the Mexican Men’s National Soccer Team plays against other nations in preparation for the FIFA World Cup.

Taking place at AT&T Stadium on Sept. 10, North Texans will get the opportunity to watch Mexico take on Canada in what should be a thrilling matchup.

Historically, the Mexican Men’s National Team has performed well against Canada, winning 21 of 35 matches all-time. In the nations’ most recent game though, Canada came away victorious with a 2-1 win over Mexico during the 2021 FIFA World Cup Qualifier in Edmonton, Canada — which may incite some fuel to the upcoming tilt.

In addition to Arlington, this year’s MexTour will also make stops in Chicago, Denver, Pasadena, as well as College Station, Texas — where team Mexico will play against Brazil.

Scheduled to be played at Texas A&M University’s Kyle Field on June 8, the game will mark the first time in the MexTour’s 21-year history that it has made its way over to College Station.

With a venue that sports over 100,000 seats, the upcoming match at Texas A&M University is poised to potentially break the MexTour attendance record, which was previously set in 2010 at Pasadena's Rose Bowl Stadium with 90,526 fans in the stands that year.

“We are thrilled to return with the MexTour to Chicago, Denver, Pasadena and Arlington, where fans — year after year — have embraced the Mexican National Team with remarkable passion,” said Camilo Durana, executive vice president of Soccer United Marketing. “This year, in conjunction with Lone Star Sports & Entertainment and the Houston Dynamo FC, we welcome the opportunity to host soccer for the first time at the renowned and historic 102,000-seat Kyle Field at Texas A&M University, in a match against the Brazilian National Team and its roster of global stars. The match will be a celebration of soccer for the entire state.”

Tickets for the College Station match will go on sale on March 19 at www.SomosLocales.com, while admission for the Arlington game will be sold at a later date. Pre-sale registration for both matches is currently available through the same website.
