First Look: Meow Wolf Grapevine’s New Parking Lot Mural

The grand reveal is scheduled for May 27, 2024

Meow Wolf Grapevine, in partnership with local artist Lauren Lewchuk, unveiled its first-ever outdoor mural initiative, P.A.R.K.E.D. (Phenomenal Asphalt Realm of Kaleidoscopic Expressionistic Design).

This expansive parking lot artwork will redefine the scenery surrounding the Grapevine Mills area, drawing inspiration from the surreal ambiance of The Real Unreal. Visitors will have the entire summer to wander through this pioneering ground artwork within the immersive wonderland of creativity.

"We're thrilled to collaborate with Lauren Lewchuk on this original project that brings The Real Unreal to life beyond our exhibition space,” said Meow Wolf Grapevine General Manager Kelly Schwartz. “This mural is a celebration of creativity and community, inviting visitors to experience a piece of Meow Wolf's magic from the moment they arrive at Grapevine Mills all summer long."

P.A.R.K.E.D. will blanket the parking lot adjacent to Meow Wolf Grapevine, infusing bursts of creativity even before guests step foot into the exhibition. The grand reveal of the mural is scheduled for Monday, May 27, marking the start of its summer-long display. These exhibition dates align with Meow Wolf Grapevine's one-year anniversary festivities, offering guests numerous opportunities to immerse themselves in The Real Unreal as part of their itinerary.

Lewchuk, an artist based in Dallas, draws inspiration from her deep-rooted love for nature and music, fueling a creative journey spanning over 14 years. Her diverse career encompasses graphic design, screen-printing, faux finishes and mural painting. From microorganisms to vast landscapes, Lewchuk's art in the TIN District showcases a whimsical blend of the tangible and the fantastical, featuring intricate compositions inspired by the marvels of the natural world.

"Incorporating inspiration from the natural world, I explore themes of growth, identity, and existentialism in my artwork," Lewchuk said in a statement. "Turning a parking lot into a colorful canvas is a perfect way to vividly showcase these themes."

Tickets are not required to see the outdoor mural. Guests can experience the full breadth of The Real Unreal at Meow Wolf Grapevine, where they can traverse through an immense and dynamic art dreamland.
