Get ready, McKinney! McKinney Repertory Theatre (MRT) is bringing the laughs and love this summer with Barefoot in the Park, kicking off their 2025 season in style.
This season might be a bit shorter than usual since the McKinney Performing Arts Center (MPAC) will start renovations in early 2026, but MRT is making sure the fun doesn’t stop. They’re already looking forward to coming back bigger and better for the holiday season with A Christmas Carol later next year.
What’s on stage this summer?
Neil Simon’s classic comedy Barefoot in the Park takes center stage from July 25 to August 9 at the cozy Courtroom Theater inside MPAC. Directed by Nathan Autrey and produced by Marilyn Latham, this timeless story follows newlyweds Paul and Corie Bratter as they navigate the thrills (and spills) of their first apartment and married life in New York City.
Think cramped quarters, quirky neighbors, surprise visits and plenty of mismatched ideas about love and life — all wrapped up in plenty of humor and heart. It’s a perfect way to unwind, laugh and maybe even remember a little about your own relationship adventures.
“In today’s hectic world, we all need a little escape,” says director Nathan Autrey. “Barefoot in the Park lets you laugh at the ups and downs of love and enjoy some lighthearted fun.”
