McKinney is a great place to live, and residents are continuing to express strong satisfaction with their city’s services and overall quality of life, according to the 2025 National Community Survey.

The results, gathered earlier this year, highlight McKinney’s strengths in safety, inclusivity, economic vibrancy and neighborhood design, placing it above national benchmarks in several categories.

A Community That Delivers

According to Chief Communications and Marketing Officer CoCo Good, the city’s goal is to create a great community, especially for residents. “We are proud that residents recognize and appreciate our efforts in areas that directly affect their daily lives,” she said in an official statement.

Those efforts are paying off. McKinney received especially high praise in areas that shape everyday experiences, including:

  • Crime prevention
  • Downtown and commercial vibrancy
  • City image and reputation
  • Economic development
  • Variety of business and service establishments
  • Shopping opportunities
  • Well-designed neighborhoods

These categories also reflect the city's ongoing investments in economic infrastructure and community planning.

Inclusive and Family-Friendly

The survey also pointed to McKinney’s emphasis on inclusion and family services. Residents rated the city positively for:

  • Valuing and respecting people from diverse backgrounds
  • Attracting residents from diverse backgrounds
  • Access to affordable, quality childcare and preschools
  • Preventive health services
  • Mental health care availability

Strong Public Safety Services

Public safety also remains a standout area for McKinney’s residents. Fire services earned excellent or good ratings from 91% of survey respondents, while 89% gave similar marks to police and emergency medical services.

Nationally Benchmarked, Locally Grounded

The 2025 citizen survey is part of The National Community Survey, developed by National Research Center Inc. in partnership with Polco. Thanks to continued investment and thoughtful leadership, McKinney is not only meeting expectations, it’s exceeding them.
