Something eerie is brewing at Galleria Dallas this Halloween season — and no, it’s not the Westin. The long-abandoned BooMont Hotel, originally opened in 1901 by eccentric tycoon Rupert B. BooMont, is back. Sort of.

Starting Sept. 5, BOO!, a walk-through immersive experience created by BAYMO, the team behind Santaland and SNOWDAY!, will open on Level 3 of Galleria Dallas, near the Play Place. Guests will explore 13 mysterious rooms filled with interactive installations, spine-tingling stories and imaginative photo ops. Tickets go on sale Aug. 13 at theboomont.com.

A Haunted History (With A Wink)

Legend has it that the original BooMont Hotel was the first fully electric hotel in Texas, fitted with custom lighting and elevators designed by BooMont himself. The glamour faded quickly after a tragic accident took the life of his wife Emerald just weeks after opening. BooMont became reclusive, allegedly whispering “She is still here” to startled staff.

Then came the storm.

On October 13, 1924, exactly 23 years later, lightning struck. Guests vanished. Clocks spun wildly. The hotel closed the next year, and the building was sealed shut. Until now.

Walk the Halls… If You Dare

BOO! invites older children and adults to navigate the reimagined BooMont Hotel at their own pace. RFID-enabled hotel keys link to three custom photo stations, sending images straight to your phone. While the experience is dark and mysterious, organizers promise there are no jump scares, gore or haunted house hijinks — just cleverly creepy fun.

Each room offers something a little different, from dreamlike decor to mind-bending illusions. It’s the kind of place where the lights flicker, the elevators hum, and you wonder if the wallpaper just blinked at you.
