We hope as you Explore Plano this summer you learn a thing or two about the city you may not have known before. This week we’re highlighting Visit Plano and Plano Centre’s Explore Plano challenges.

The Visit Plano team connects visitors, meeting and event planners, business travelers and sporting event organizers. With unique and entertaining attractions like Southfork Ranch and the Plano Balloon Festival, there’s always something to do in Plano. With a high-spirited day and nightlife, you can find restaurants galore, all the shopping you could hope for and plenty of places to kick back and relax.

Are you game to Explore Plano? Well good – your first challenge awaits if you choose to accept. Find your claim to game on June 18-19 during the Let’s Play Gaming Expo. Inspired by the YouTube “Let’s Play” videos, the Let’s Play Gaming Expo celebrates everything that is gaming. Expect to be blown away by 85+ vendors, developers, 90+ arcade cabinets, tournaments and of course some special guests. While you’re there, be sure to share one of your favorite photos of the day with the hashtag #ExplorePlano.

No more teachers, no more books! Now that school’s out, the city is yours to roam. The smell of freedom is good, it’s real good…so tell us: Do you have a local go-to hot spot in Plano? If so, we want to know. Take a selfie at your favorite location to kick it with your friends and use tag #exploreplano for a chance to win some sweet swag.

It’s pretty common to pick up tourist information when you’re on a trip or staying in uncharted territory. Even though you may have grown up in Plano, we bet there are still some local gems you’ve yet to discover. If you’ve never been to Plano Centre then we know you haven’t seen all of Plano. Within the Plano Centre you’ll find Visit Plano. Swing by anytime Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and pick up a Visitors Guide. Once you’ve had time to check out the guide, pick a place that you haven’t visited before and set a time to explore something new. While you’re there, take a photo or a selfie, and post to your favorite social media page with hashtag #exploreplano and #visitplano.

Who knows, this summer you may potentially discover your new favorite hangout.

Explore Plano is underway now until August 31, so get your map and get started at plano.gov/exploreplano. The City of Plano will be giving away a few prizes along the way through their social media pages, so don’t forget to share your progress with the hashtag #ExplorePlano. Also, sign up to receive the Explore Plano e-news to find out detailed information on upcoming challenges.
