In a landmark decision for local educators, the Plano ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved the largest and most comprehensive compensation plan in the district’s history during its June 10, 2025, meeting.
Months in the making, the 2025–26 compensation package was the result of extensive collaboration between district leaders and trustees. It not only exceeds previous pay increases but also meets the new standards set by Texas House Bill 2. At its core is an investment in retaining and supporting teachers.
Significant Pay Raises for Teachers
Plano ISD teachers will see pay bumps ranging from 4 to 8.5% based on experience. The starting salary for new teachers rises to $63,000, or $65,000 for those with a master’s degree. Strategic adjustments were also made to ensure experienced educators receive meaningful increases that reflect their time and impact in the classroom.
“Our talented and dedicated employees are the heart of this district, and this plan reflects how deeply we value their expertise and commitment,” Superintendent Dr. Theresa Williams said in an official statement. “Our staff members are our greatest asset. Every role is essential, and everyone’s contribution helps shape the success of our students.”
Additional Benefits for All Staff

While teachers receive the largest increases, the plan includes benefits for the broader Plano ISD workforce:
- A 3% raise for all non-teaching staff
- $330 per month in healthcare contributions
- Two additional days of paid bereavement leave
- Continued access to low-cost employee childcare and after-school care
- Free pre-K for employees’ children
- Market-based pay adjustments as needed
The total estimated budget impact of the plan is nearly $17 million.
Keeping Plano ISD a "Destination District"
The new plan is designed not just to raise salaries, but to keep Plano ISD competitive in a challenging education job market.
“Retaining expert educators and supporting every member of our team is essential for student achievement,” said School Board President Dr. Lauren Tyra. “We want Plano ISD to remain a destination district — where talented professionals choose to build their careers and students are given every opportunity to excel.”
