This week, the members of the Collin County Area Realtors (CCAR) and the MetroTex Association of Realtors gave a resounding thumbs‑up to merge.
What does this mean? It means that nearly 40,000 members are combining into one mega-association, instantly making it the largest Realtor association in North Texas and a heavyweight contender on the national stage
“We’re not just merging boards; we’re amplifying our voice,” MetroTex President Johnny Mowad said in an official statement. “Together, MetroTex and CCAR will form one of the strongest real estate networks in the country.”
“This merger is more than a milestone, it’s a launchpad for new benefits and possibilities. Together, we’re shaping a stronger, smarter future for Realtors and the communities we serve,” CCAR CEO Mary Leidy added in an official statement.
Why The Merger Happened
Unified Boards, Unified Vision: Both groups’ boards backed the merger and handed the decision over to members, who officially approved it
Stronger Advocacy: A bigger membership means louder lobbying at local, state and national levels.
Lean And Smart Operations: By trimming duplicated tools, they’re reinvesting in smarter tech, better education, and upgraded resources.
Bigger Benefits, Lower Costs: With streamlined operations, members see reduced per‑member costs and fewer overlapping dues. Resulting in? No extra fees, just more perks
Who Is Leading The New Association
Leading the combined crew will be Justin Landon, MetroTex’s current CEO. He’s already in planning mode, laying out the merger roadmap and making sure the transition is smooth.
