This summer, Plano audiences can catch a glimpse of the future of Broadway — without ever leaving Collin County.

North Texas Performing Arts Repertory Theatre (NTPA Rep) has announced its 2025 summer cast: nine standout performers from top musical theater programs across the country. These college actors, chosen from hundreds of applicants, will bring high-energy performances to NTPA’s productions of Oklahoma! and Footloose, while also teaching and mentoring in local youth theater camps.

The program, launched in 2022, offers a rare opportunity for collegiate-level actors to gain professional experience during the summer. Known in the theater world as a “summer stock” program, it blends intensive performance training with teaching opportunities and live stage productions, and NTPA Rep offers the only such program in North Texas.

“These performers represent some of the most prestigious Broadway-bound talent from across the country,” said Darrell Rodenbaugh, CEO of NTPA. “We are proud to showcase them in our Plano Summer Musicals and continue our mission to inspire audiences and empower artists.”

From College Campuses to the Plano Stage

Selected from more than 60 universities, this year’s cast includes performers from Ithaca College, Oklahoma State, Shenandoah University, and more. These actors will appear in Oklahoma! from June 13–22 and Footloose from August 1–10, both staged at the Rodenbaugh Theatre inside The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano.

Alongside their roles on stage, these student artists will work behind the scenes and lead educational summer camps for kids — sharing their skills and sparking creativity in the next generation of local performers.

“It's an honor to work with such driven and talented young performers,” said Nick Mann, creative director for NTPA Repertory Theatre. “They bring incredible energy and professionalism to everything they do.”

What’s On Stage This Summer

The season kicks off with Oklahoma!, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s groundbreaking classic about love, rivalry, and life on the Western frontier. Then in August, Footloose brings its timeless tale of youthful rebellion and redemption to the stage, complete with iconic songs and high-energy choreography.

Both productions are part of NTPA Repertory Theatre’s growing reputation as a destination for high-caliber local theater. The company has earned multiple BroadwayWorld Dallas Awards and Column Awards, and was recently named “Best Adult Theatre Company in Plano” by Plano Magazine.
