How Ann Sheu Helps You Live On Purpose

The founder of Mpowered Journey teaches people to trade autopilot for a life built on clarity, values and intention

Most of us know the drill: wake up, check your email, run from meeting to meeting, collapse on the couch — only to do it all over again. But what if you’re spending your whole life chasing a vision that was never really yours?

That was the wake-up call for Ann Sheu, founder of Mpowered Journey.

“I was checking every box — college, career, marriage, kids — but it wasn’t my plan,” Sheu told Local Profile. “It was society’s plan.”

After years of building a demanding retail business, Sheu realized she was surviving her days instead of living them. When personal loss struck, her father’s death and her in-laws’ separation, she knew she couldn’t keep going on autopilot.

This fall, Sheu will share the lessons behind that journey — from building businesses and burning out to redefining what matters most — as a panelist at North Texas’ most powerful women’s leadership event: Local Profile’s 24th Annual Women in Business Summit, presented by Bank of America, on Sept. 12. From Autopilot To Alignment

Sheu’s first step wasn’t perfect or pretty. She started by applying the discipline of business planning to her personal life, setting small quarterly goals. Over time, she discovered that goals alone weren’t enough — she needed something deeper to anchor her decisions.

That’s when she began defining her “no-matter-what” values: the parts of you so ingrained they guide every choice, whether you realize it or not.

“If you don’t know what you stand for, you’ll always feel pulled in a hundred directions,” Sheu says.

Today, every client she coaches begins with that same exploration. From there, Sheu helps them build decade-long visions and work backward to design a life rooted in clarity, purpose and peace.

A Holistic Lens On Business And Life

Sheu’s own journey is what fuels her work, but her expertise comes from decades of professional experience. With dual degrees in business and law, she has founded and scaled multiple ventures, served as a board member and spent 15+ years as a consultant and executive coach.

Her approach blends emotional intelligence and strategic thinking. Sheu doesn’t offer cookie-cutter advice — instead, she listens deeply, maps root causes and provides tailored frameworks that help clients take action.

“Work screams. Family and purpose whisper,” she says. “You have to create space to hear them.”

How She Helps Others Find Clarity

Through her work with Mpowered Journey, Sheu helps individuals and organizations turn good intentions into lasting change. Her Know Thyself workshop gives people the space to reflect on their core values and define what they want their lives to stand for. For couples ready to get on the same page about priorities, parenting and purpose, her yearlong Family Foundational Program provides a framework for designing a shared vision and following through, week by week.

Sheu also partners with leadership teams to build cultures rooted in trust and clarity. And for high-achieving individuals who feel stuck in overdrive, she offers one-on-one coaching designed to reconnect them to what matters most.

Sheu’s Advice for Living More Intentionally

  • Define your No Matter What Values. Start by asking: What are the quirks, triggers and passions that have always been true for me?

  • Zoom out. When you’re in conflict or overwhelmed, reconnect to your long-term vision. What do you want life to look like in 10 years?

  • Act before you feel ready. Clarity comes from movement, not overthinking.

  • Protect your presence. Even small choices, like putting your phone away at dinner, can change everything.
