Celina officially broke ground on Wilson Creek Park on Sept. 3, marking the start of what will become one of the city’s premier gathering spots for all members of the community.
Spanning roughly 100 acres, Wilson Creek Park will be located at the corner of the future Sunset Boulevard and Roseland Parkway. The project carries a $50.75 million price tag and will be built in phases. The first phase, expected to cost $30 million, is now underway and is projected to open in the fall of 2026.
Envisioned as a place to play, connect and build community, the park reflects Celina’s commitment to enhancing quality of life for its rapidly growing population.
Features Shaped By Residents
City officials shaped the park’s design with residents in mind. Through community meetings and a survey that received more than 1,000 responses, Celina gathered valuable input. The feedback guided the creation of the master plan, ensuring Wilson Creek Park reflects what the community truly wants and needs.
Once complete, Wilson Creek Park will offer something for everyone. Planned features include:
- Lighted diamond fields and multi-use fields
- Lighted pickleball courts
- A nine-hole disc golf course
- Playgrounds and open space
- Concrete and soft surface trails
- A pond for scenic views
- Pavilion, restrooms and concession building
Looking Ahead
With its wide range of recreational opportunities, Wilson Creek Park is set to become a cornerstone of Celina’s future. As the mayor and city leaders emphasized at the groundbreaking, the park represents more than just sports fields and trails — it’s a major investment in strengthening the city’s sense of connection and community.
“We’re excited to share this journey with you and appreciate your continued support as we bring this vision to life,” the city said in a social media post.
