Nearly a quarter century later, the events of Sept. 11, 2001, remain a defining moment in American memory. And for our team, the memory is personal — a few years ago, one of our writers, originally from New York, shared a firsthand account of witnessing the attacks, a reminder of how deeply those moments still resonate.

As the anniversary approaches, communities across North Texas will gather to honor and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders who rushed toward danger, and the resilience that followed. These remembrance ceremonies serve as solemn tributes to the day’s events and underscore the strength and unity that emerged in its aftermath.
