Celina, Texas, is gearing up to transform its historic downtown with the launch of the Downtown Center project. This ambitious development will begin with the construction of a new parking garage, followed by a state-of-the-art city center designed to meet the community’s evolving needs.
The first phase of the project involves constructing a 25,202-square-foot, four-story parking garage that will add nearly 400 parking spaces. This expansion is expected to alleviate current parking challenges in downtown Celina. Designed with a masonry exterior, the garage will blend seamlessly with the surrounding historic architecture and feature a visually striking elevator lobby aligned with the future Downtown Center atrium.
Once the parking garage is completed, construction on the Downtown Center will begin. This expansive facility will house city administrative offices and a new 26,209-square-foot library, a significant upgrade from the existing 2,400-square-foot facility. The multi-floor library will offer extensive resources, including ample seating, computer stations and spaces for community events.
The Downtown Center will also feature a rooftop community space designed for public events and social activities, offering panoramic views of the city. Additionally, the revitalized surrounding alley will be transformed into a garden-like area to further enhance downtown’s vibrancy.
“The new parking garage and Downtown Center are critical components of our long-term vision for Downtown Celina,” said Celina Mayor Ryan Tubbs in an official statement. “Together, these facilities will meet the needs of our rapidly growing community and create a thriving activity hub where residents and visitors can connect, engage and contribute to the city’s future.”
The parking garage is slated for completion in fall 2025, with construction on the Downtown Center expected to begin soon thereafter and finish in winter 2026.
