The FC Dallas Foundation and NUU Mobile announced the recipients of the 2024 Community Action Grants. These organizations empower youth and communities across North Texas, focusing on one of the foundation’s four pillars: healthy and active lifestyles, education, character building, and social and economic impact. Each grant recipient will receive a $5,000 donation from the FC Dallas Foundation.
“The FC Dallas Foundation supports programs that promote education, health, and wellness for youth and communities in North Texas,” FC Dallas Foundation & Community Relations Director Brooke Leverette said in an official statement. “Our community action grant program presented by NUU does just that. We could not be more excited for this class of grantees and the meaningful impact they all have in our community.”
The first recipient, McKinney-based Community Lifeline Center, supports residents of north Collin County by providing essential resources such as food, financial assistance and access to necessary services for our unhoused neighbors. In 2024,the Community Lifeline Center aims to serve 100,000 individuals with over one million nutritious meals.
Fortress, another recipient, offers resources to children and their families, helping them achieve long-term stability, health and happiness. Through programs centered on academic, social-emotional and spiritual support, Fortress employs an intergenerational approach that leverages existing strengths and cultivates new skills. This approach aids families in overcoming barriers rooted in systemic inequities, generational trauma and life circumstances.
Texas Blind Soccer received the donation to continue offering an organized recreational soccer league for visually impaired youth and adults. The organization also aims to educate, promote and generate interest in amateur sports for visually impaired athletes of all ages.
The last recipient, Pleasant Grove, addresses the shortage of resources and advocacy in youth soccer by nurturing happier, healthier soccer players and creating equal opportunities for low-income families. They provide free or low-cost camps, clinics, mentorships and other support to level the playing field.
"We take pride in being a leader in offering innovative and affordable smart devices," said NUU CEO, Danny Sit. "At NUU, we are dedicated to enhancing the lives of North Texas residents and soccer enthusiasts through our Community Action Grant partnership with the FC Dallas Foundation, promoting empowerment through innovation."
