Frisco residents who have ever wondered what really happens behind the doors of their local schools will soon have a unique opportunity to explore the inner workings of the district. This behind-the-scenes experience offers a rare chance to see firsthand how the district supports students, teachers and the broader community.

From understanding how classrooms are managed to seeing how decisions are made at the administrative level, participants will get an inside look at the people, processes and programs that keep Frisco ISD running smoothly.

What Is FISD Insight?

FISD Insight is a community program designed to pull back the curtain on the district’s day-to-day operations. Participants meet monthly from October through February to learn directly from district leaders about topics ranging from athletics and fine arts to transportation, nutrition and facility maintenance.

Each session includes presentations, Q&A opportunities and interactive learning experiences. The goal is to give parents, community members and even local business leaders a deeper understanding of what it takes to run one of the fastest-growing districts in Texas.

Who Can Apply

Participation is open to adults who live within the boundaries of Frisco ISD. There are a few requirements:

  • Only one adult per household may participate
  • Applicants cannot be current FISD students or employees
  • Alumni of previous Insight programs are not eligible
  • All participants must complete a background check before the first class

The program costs $20, payable at the first session.

Why It Matters

The program offers valuable insights for everyone, from families new to Frisco ISD to those who have been involved for years. Even seasoned volunteers and parents who think they know the district inside and out often discover aspects of its operations they hadn’t considered before, gaining a deeper appreciation for the work behind the scenes.

“I had already been very involved as a PTA leader, but Insight still opened my eyes to so much more about the district,” said Cyndi Arakas, a Frisco ISD Insight alum and parent of two, in an official statement. “It gave me an even greater appreciation and understanding for what it takes to make FISD run — I wish I had taken it even sooner!”

Program Schedule

The 2025-26 Insight class will include five sessions held between October and February, plus a welcome event and Board recognition in the spring. Find the dates here.

Applications close Sept. 25, at 4 p.m., and no late submissions will be accepted.

How To Get Involved

Joining FISD Insight is more than attending a few classes — it’s about building a stronger connection with the schools that serve the community. Whether you’re a new resident or a longtime volunteer, the program offers a unique way to engage with Frisco ISD.

Applications open Sept. 3. More details, including the full schedule, are available on the FISD Insight webpage.

For those who want to go further, FISD Insight now offers an optional Board Leadership Academy as a capstone experience. This session introduces participants to the responsibilities of a school board trustee, including governance, legal duties and the realities of running for office. Former trustees share their perspectives, making it a valuable step for anyone considering leadership in public education.
