"The Plano Mayor's Summer Internship Program is a shining example of what it looks like when a community collectively comes together to inspire youth and drive impact to strengthen our future,” Mayor Muns said in an official statement. “It provides our students with the tools they need to succeed in their professional journeys."

From Vision to Reality

The program was founded by former Mayor Harry LaRosiliere and has been championed in recent years by current Mayor Muns. Today, it remains a cornerstone of the city’s commitment to youth development and workforce readiness.

Under the guidance of both mayors, the internship program flourishes with the backing of more than 60 business and nonprofit partners who commit to mentoring and training young talent every summer. Capital One, the program’s founding and presenting sponsor, continues to play a vital leadership role.

Looking Ahead

With more than 1,000 students already impacted and a growing list of supporters each year, the program shows no signs of slowing down. As Plano continues to invest in its young people, the internship program stands as a model of what’s possible when civic leadership, corporate partnership and educational opportunity come together.
