North Texans with a taste for chewy, golden-brown bagels will soon see one of their own celebrated on national TV. Starship Bagel, the Dallas-area artisan bagel shop known for its New York-style bagels and playful sci-fi flair, will be featured in an upcoming episode of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.
Hosted by the ever-enthusiastic Guy Fieri, the episode titled “All Kinds of Cookin’” will air on June 6, at 8 p.m., and showcase the shop’s Lewisville location.
From Local Love to National Spotlight
Now with three locations around Dallas, Starship Bagel has built a loyal following for its inventive bagel creations and imaginative atmosphere. In the episode, Fieri dives into the shop’s “dynamite dough” topped with standouts like basil and fermented jalapeño schmears. According to the Food Network description, the segment promises a look at Starship’s commitment to quality and creativity, two qualities that have earned them both regional acclaim and a spot on Season 41 of the long-running series.

But this isn’t the first time Starship has been recognized for its out of this world bagels. in 2023, it placed in five competitions at the 4th Annual New York Bagel Fest, winning first place in the Best Bagel section of the competition.
This year, Starship Bagel Owner Oren Salomon was a James Beard finalist for the Outstanding Bakery Award.
Since launching in Lewisville in 2021 and expanding to downtown Dallas and Far North Dallas, he has redefined the local bagel scene with his signature approach, fully coating both sides in bold seasonings for maximum flavor. This commitment to quality and innovation has made Starship Bagel a standout in the competitive bakery landscape.
Instant Chemistry With Fieri
Salomon shared behind-the-scenes reflections about filming with the Food Network crew. In an Instagram post, he admitted to feeling nervous at first, worried he might freeze or fumble his words on camera.
“Thankfully Guy’s easygoing demeanor and engaging conversational style made all that anxiety melt away instantly,” Salomon said. “He was the easiest person in the world to talk to and set me up perfectly for many bits. I’d say that we had instant chemistry but this would be stealing credit from the entertainment mastery of Guy Fieri.”
According to Salomon, the Fieri seen on-screen is exactly who showed up in Lewisville. “The character you see on TV is exactly the human I got to enjoy hosting and serving.”
Rooted in the Community
For Salomon, the moment is personal as well as professional. “The North Dallas community is especially near and dear to my heart as it's the place I grew up — and what a special honor it is to serve the people who raised me and the next generation they're raising now.”
He also praised Fieri’s mission and the values shared by his crew. “You can tell that what Guy cares about most is making a difference in the lives of chefs and restaurant workers across the board. His team shares his motivation and it was evident throughout all of our interactions.”
