Three generations ago, the Algiere men from the charming town of Acri, Italy, embarked on a journey to America, planting their roots in Westerly, Rhode Island. There, they cultivated lush gardens and upheld the cherished "farm-to-table" traditions of their homeland. A century later, their legacy continues to thrive, now woven into a new chapter of Italian heritage in Texas.

Father-and-son duo Robert and Jason Algiere are bringing their rich Italian roots to the heart of Celina. Together, they’ve created Mangiamo — Italian for “let’s eat” — a culinary haven where family traditions meet modern flavors. Mangiamo Market Deli & Pizzeria officially opened its doors on January 24, 2025, inviting the Celina community to savor an authentic “slice of Italy.”

Mangiamo, located at 203 W. Pecan St., is a labor of love crafted by Jason Algiere and his father, Robert Algiere. Together, the father-son duo has poured their hearts into creating a warm and inviting space that celebrates handcrafted Italian dishes, fresh deli offerings and a thoughtfully curated marketplace.

“The journey to opening Mangiamo has been one of passion, perseverance and community spirit,” said Jason Algiere in an official statement. “After months of hard work transforming this space and perfecting our menu, I’m thrilled to welcome our neighbors to Mangiamo. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m excited to share a piece of my family’s Italian heritage with Celina.”

What to Order

During the soft opening, guests can indulge in Mangiamo’s signature wood-fired pizzas (including a gluten-free cauliflower crust),  fresh deli selections featuring imported meats and cheeses, salads and a charming Italian marketplace stocked with specialty goods. Housed in a beautifully restored vintage gas station, Mangiamo offers a mix of nostalgic charm and authentic Italian excellence.

The Algiere family invites the community to experience Mangiamo during its soft opening and will unveil more details about their grand opening celebration, set for late February or early March.

“Jason and I had a dream 2.5 years ago to create a place where we could share our family’s traditions with the people of Celina and Collin County,” shared Robert Algiere. “I’m so proud of Jason for leading this effort and building something truly special — a space where families can gather over great food and create lasting memories.”
