Portillo’s, the Chicago-born fast-casual favorite known for its iconic hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches, is adding yet another stop on its North Texas journey — a journey that started in The Colony!

The newest Portillo’s will be located at 3102 State Highway 161, within the Epic West Shopping Center in Grand Prairie. The 6,250-square-foot restaurant will feature seating for 160 guests, a double drive-thru lane, and modern conveniences like Portillo’s pick-up shelves and a grab-and-go area designed to make takeout as smooth as possible.

This will also be a “Restaurant of the Future,” according to the company, decked out in a Southwest garage theme that nods to both Texas flair and the brand’s evolving restaurant design strategy.

What’s on the Menu

Fans can expect all the classics that made Portillo’s famous, including Chicago-style hot dogs with all the traditional fixings, vegan dogs, juicy Italian beef sandwiches and hearty char-grilled burgers. And of course, no trip to Portillo’s would be complete without a slice of their decadent chocolate cake.

Rapid Growth Across DFW

Portillo’s made its Dallas-area debut in January 2023 at Grandscape in The Colony. That first month alone, guest satisfaction scores surpassed the company’s average performance across all locations since 2021. As Local Profile previously reported, The Colony location brought in an average of $48,000 per day in that first month alone — a sign North Texas was ready for more.

Since then, Portillo’s has opened six more restaurants in Allen, Arlington, Grapevine, Denton, Mansfield and Fort Worth. A new location is also planned for DFW Airport, slated to open in 2026, bringing their craveable menu to travelers on the go.

Grand Prairie Marks Another Milestone

With its newest site in Grand Prairie, Portillo’s continues to stake its claim as a growing favorite in the Texas fast-casual landscape. Whether you're in it for the hot dogs, the beef, or that famous cake, there's no shortage of places to get your Portillo’s fix in North Texas.
