Knife Italian Steak is bringing something new to the table — literally. Beginning May 24 and running through August 9, the Dallas steakhouse will host weekly Mini Chef Cooking Classes aimed at kids with a passion for food.

Held every Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the one-hour classes take participants behind the scenes of a working restaurant kitchen, where they’ll join Knife’s culinary team to prepare their own lunch.

What To Know

Adding star power to the lineup, award-winning chef and Knife founder John Tesar will make select appearances during the summer series. Known for his high standards and ambitious culinary style, Tesar will interact with the kids, offering insight and encouragement to the next generation of chefs.

Each child receives a branded apron and a commemorative photo with the chef, making the experience as memorable as it is delicious. Classes are $55 per child and are open to ages 8 to 14, or as young as 6 with a parent’s help. Reservations must be made at least 72 hours in advance. Sign up here.

A Milestone Summer for the Knife Brand

As Knife Italian Steak gears up for a family-friendly season, the larger Knife brand is also entering a major new chapter. On August 31, 2025, Knife will close its location at The Highland Dallas, ending its long-standing partnership with the Curio Collection by Hilton. “We are grateful for chef Tesar’s partnership over the years and we wish him success in his future endeavors,” Lennox Capital Partners, owner of The Highland Dallas, previously said.

Knife Steakhouse in Plano will remain open at 6121 W Park Blvd RS9.

Looking Ahead: The Next Evolution of Knife

Chef Tesar isn’t slowing down. His team — through a collaboration with GBOD Hospitality Group and 3ntourage Hospitality Group — has already secured a new flagship location in Dallas. The yet-to-be-announced venue will expand the Knife brand with multiple concepts under one roof, including the signature Knife, the smaller-scale Pocket Knife and a new social dining experience called Switchblade.

More details about the new concept are expected later this year, but for now, the focus is on making summer unforgettable for young food lovers and Knife regulars alike.
