This week, Sushi | Bar announced that it will be opening the doors to its first-ever North Texas restaurant in Dallas on Dec. 1, 2023.
Located in Downtown Dallas’ East Quarter development, the sushi restaurant originally made its way into the Lone Star State back in 2020, where it debuted in Austin to positive reception.
The sushi concept is renowned for its 17-course omakase (Japanese for “I leave it up to you”) experience, featuring fresh fish sourced and flown in weekly from markets around the world, including Japan, Australia and California.
Hidden away, speakeasy style, Sushi | Bar Dallas has two subterranean omakase rooms, with each area able to seat up to 12 guests at a time. In each room, guests will get to enjoy the Japanese-inspired decor, along with the friendly and intimate experiences that are created by the chefs.
As the chefs concoct the dishes in front of them, guests will get the opportunity to indulge in such menu offerings like Aged Bluefin Akami (with dehydrated red miso and everything bagel spice), Hokkaido Scallop (with white truffle salt, shaved black truffle and truffle caviar) and A5 Wagyu (with brown butter miso), among others.
“We are bringing something to the city that Dallas does not currently have," said Ryan Stock, CEO of Adept Hospitality, the group behind Sushi | Bar. "Sushi | Bar often introduces diners that may not traditionally be fans of sushi and shows them a more comfortable and approachable format of omakase. It is an all nigiri omakase which is rare and to this day, the only one in the country that sticks to that format.”
The omakase sushi restaurant is not the only food and beverage experience coming to Dallas next month, as Sushi | Bar also announced that it will be opening Ginger’s on Dec. 1.
Ginger’s is a new cocktail lounge concept that is connected to Sushi | Bar, and serves as an ideal place for patrons to enjoy a beverage regardless if they are visiting the sushi speakeasy or not.
Ginger’s bar program was crafted by Sean Kenyon, a worldwide award-winning mixologist who has accumulated numerous accolades, including “American Bartender of the Year” at the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards in 2014.
The cocktail lounge offers a wide selection of refreshing drinks, such as martinis, negronis, margaritas and much more.
Along with wetting their whistles, patrons of Ginger’s will also get to enjoy a variety of live music and DJs, providing a lively atmosphere for lounging guests in-attendance.
“We found that guests enjoying Sushi | Bar are sitting in this immersive experience, enjoying cocktails and sake for over two hours. When the dining comes to an end most guests are looking for an option to continue the evening and keep things going,” said Stock. “Ginger’s is our way for guests to continue their evening in a seamless transition over to a world class bar and lounge.”
Ginger’s will be open Monday to Thursday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday to Sunday from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Sushi | Bar will be open Wednesday to Sunday — and seven days a week starting in 2024 — with online reservations available online via Tock.
