The Lapiplasty Pickleball World Championships, scheduled to be held at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, recently unveiled the majority of the players who will compete in the prestigious tournament.
This year, some of the best athletes in the world will hit North Texas for the tournament, including Anna Leigh Waters, the teenage phenom ranked world number one. She burst onto the pro pickleball scene at just 12 years old and has since become the sport's biggest star. With more triple crowns — winning singles, doubles and mixed doubles at the same event — than any other player.
Also set to compete is Ben Johns, who is widely regarded as pickleball's first true legend — a trailblazer who helped elevate the sport to a professional level. He holds nearly every record in men's and mixed doubles and has expanded his influence by co-owning several pickleball-related businesses.
Jack Sock, an Olympic Gold Medalist and four-time tennis Grand Slam champion has also become a prominent figure on the PPA Tour, known for his powerful groundstrokes and instinctive play that have led to significant success.
Catherine Parenteau, the world number one in women’s doubles, is a relentless competitor who travels nationwide to compete in the sport’s top tournaments, including the upcoming tournament in North Texas.
“We are thrilled to announce the exceptionally diverse lineup of professional players who will be participating in the Pickleball World Championships," said Connor Pardoe, the CEO and founder of the PPA Tour in an official statement. "This tournament brings together the world’s best of the best in pickleball, and we are excited to witness the intense competition and sportsmanship that will be on display."
The Lapiplasty Pickleball World Championships will showcase all three PPA Tour events — singles, doubles and mixed doubles — offering thrilling matchups for spectators. With players from around the world converging in Farmers Branch, this tournament is set to be a global spectacle.
Anticipation is high among players and fans alike, with the event expected to draw a huge audience both in person and online. Last year, the tournament attracted 50,000 fans to Brookhaven Country Club and Pickleball Boulevard, and excitement is building for another record-breaking turnout.
