The FIFA World Cup 26 will be the largest in history, and organizers are calling on 65,000 volunteers to help bring it to life across three countries. The application process is now open, giving fans a chance to be part of the action both on and off the pitch.

The Heartbeat of the Tournament

According to FIFA, volunteers are “the heart, soul and smile” of its events. For 2026, they’ll support 23 functional areas at stadiums, training sites, airports, hotels and more across 16 host cities in the U.S., Mexico and Canada, including Arlington.

With the tournament’s expanded 48-team format, FIFA says this will be the biggest volunteer program in its history. Volunteers will not only help with logistics, but also serve as ambassadors for their host city — welcoming millions of visitors and sharing local culture.

“Volunteers get to show off their local pride, gain a behind-the-scenes view of the tournament and make memories and friendships that can last a lifetime,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said in an official statement.

From Students to Seasoned Pros

You don’t need prior experience to apply. FIFA welcomes people from all backgrounds and abilities, from students to retirees. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, eligible to volunteer in the host country and have a good command of English. For roles in Mexico, English and Spanish are desirable; in Canada, French is considered an asset. Speaking any additional languages is a plus.

Craig Collins, who volunteered at the 1994 FIFA World Cup USA and the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in Atlanta, became FIFA’s one millionth volunteer earlier this year. “I’m excited to apply for the 2026 program and hope to show off my community to the world once more,” Collins said in an official statement.

Training and Tryouts Ahead

Those accepted will be invited to Volunteer Team Tryouts starting in October 2025. Training will follow in March 2026, with the tournament kicking off on June 11 in Mexico City.

In North Texas, Arlington’s AT&T Stadium will host nine matches, more than any other venue. Frisco’s Toyota Stadium will serve as a FIFA-designated base camp, and Dallas will host the International Broadcast Center. Cities are investing heavily in upgrades and fan spaces, aiming to make 2026 a celebration of sport and community.

How to Apply

Applications are available now at fifaworldcup.com/volunteers. If you’ve ever wanted to be more than a spectator at the world’s biggest sporting event, this might be your chance.

Tickets Go On Sale In September

If you’d rather cheer from the stands, mark your calendar for Sept. 10, 2025. That’s when FIFA World Cup 26 tickets officially go on sale, kicking off the first draw application window for what’s set to be the biggest tournament yet.

Fans must register in advance at FIFA.com/tickets and create a FIFA ID to be eligible. FIFA expects 6.5 million fans to attend matches across North America and advises early registration to stay informed about each sales phase. Hospitality packages, including “Follow My Team” options, are already available at FIFA.com/hospitality.

FIFA reminds fans to buy only from official sources to avoid being left outside the stadium.
