Plano shopping center Legacy West announced that it is offering special tote bags at select stores in celebration of Black History Month.

Available through March 1, the limited edition commemorative tote bags feature the artwork of Dallas contemporary painter Desiree Vaniecia, who partnered with the shopping mall on the initiative.

The art collection, titled “Harmonizing History: Songs of My Childhood,” features three original designs from Vaniecia, which she crafted as a way of paying tribute to the annual month of observance.

Vaniecia’s pieces of art were largely inspired by the songs that held major significance in her life. Her goal with the designs was to both evoke nostalgia and celebrate the cultural impact of African American music, according to a release.

Each tote bag even comes equipped with a Spotify code — which is embedded in the design — allowing shoppers to check out the music that inspired Vaniecia’s eye-popping artwork.

This art collection is the latest in a long line of work that the Dallas painter has crafted over the years.

After graduating from McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, with a Bachelor of Arts degree, Vaniecia has contributed her art collections to a variety of Dallas-area establishments including Meow Wolf, Conduit Gallery and The MAC, to name a few.

Vaniecia’s art style largely challenges the stereotypical views of Black women by society and the media, utilizing vivid colors and dynamic compositions to encourage deeper reflection from observers, according to the artist’s website.

Her latest tote bag designs can be found at Visit Plano, Read Between the Lines, Albion and MAC inside the Legacy West shopping mall.
