A new report from PrivacyJournal named Frisco and Plano among the best American areas for gamers.
The study, titled “Top Gaming Cities: 100 Best US Cities for Gamers in 2023," sought out to rank the most gamer-friendly cities across America. To put together its rankings, PrivacyJournal graded cities in a number of major categories that would be of importance to gamers, including livability, internet infrastructure, gaming community and gaming career/education.
Within each category were a number of metrics that helped determine where each city placed, such as cost of living, internet speed, amount of video game conventions, number of gaming-related university programs and more.
“The PrivacyJournal team did the research, and after looking at the most populated cities in the United States, we came up with a list of the 100 best cities for gamers, ranking them overall and in several categories,” said PrivacyJournal. “Overall there were 17 factors considered, such as internet quality, availability of video game stores, gaming environment and culture, study and career opportunities.”
Frisco (7th place) and Plano (10th place) both were able to achieve top-10 statuses in the rankings by scoring above the national average in a number of critical areas.
According to the study, Frisco had by far the highest percentage of households that own a computer (96.8%), as well as the largest share of households with internet access (99.1%).
When it comes to Plano, the study said that it is an enticing city for the gaming community on account of its “excellent livability and impressive internet infrastructure” which makes it a “prime choice for both at-home and on-the-move gamers who want speedy internet wherever they are.”
Other North Texas cities to make the list included Garland (14th), Dallas (52nd), Fort Worth (55th) and Irving (63rd).
