Prosper H-E-B Draws Massive Crowds At Grand Opening

The opening marks the ninth North Texas store since 2022, with more locations already in the works

Hundreds of shoppers packed the parking lot for the Prosper H-E-B opening earlier this week, creating a scene that’s become a familiar sight for the grocer’s North Texas debuts. While no exact attendance figure is known, the turnout once again demonstrated the strong draw H-E-B commands every time it opens a new store in the region.

The 133,000-square-foot store, located at 2145 W. Frontier Parkway at the Dallas North Tollway, opened to the public with extended hours from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place the day before the grand opening.

“This store will allow us to serve even more Texans in the DFW area,” said Juan-Carlos Rück, H-E-B executive vice president North West Food/Drug, in an official statement.

Part Of A Growing Footprint

The Prosper store is the ninth H-E-B to open in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 2022, following locations in Frisco, Plano, McKinney, Allen and Melissa, plus a second Frisco store in 2024. The company also announced additional sites in Rockwall, Irving, Murphy, Mid-Cities, Forney and Denton and purchased land earlier this year at Hillcrest Road and LBJ Freeway for a potential first Dallas store.

What’s Inside

The Prosper location brings many of the amenities H-E-B is known for in Texas, including:

  • A two-story True Texas BBQ restaurant with a drive-thru

  • Full-service pharmacy with drive-up spaces

  • H-E-B curbside and home delivery with a large dedicated parking area

  • Fuel station with carwash

Other highlights include handmade tortillas and artisan breads from the bakery, an expansive cheese and charcuterie selection, fresh sushi and Asian grill options, chef-prepared “Meal Simple” dishes, Texas-grown produce, prime and wagyu beef cuts and a large craft beer and wine section with sampling stations.

The store also features a floral department with delivery service, a healthy living section, an extensive frozen foods area, a wide range of cosmetics and pet products under the Heritage Ranch brand.

“We are committed to supporting this community with an incredible shopping experience, friendly customer service and the best H-E-B has to offer,” said Rück.

True to its “Spirit of Giving” philosophy, H-E-B marked the Prosper grand opening with $30,000 in donations — $10,000 each to 3FTL, Tuman Breast Cancer Foundation and Collin County Animal Services. The company employs 570 partners (employees) at the new store, most from the surrounding area.

Why Shoppers Flock to H-E-B

H-E-B has built a loyal following thanks to its range, scale and attention to detail. Shoppers can browse an expansive produce department with hundreds of fresh options, a large assortment of craft, domestic and Texas-made beers and one of the widest wine selections in the state — complete with tasting stations. The store also offers budget-friendly choices for organic and gluten-free diets. Its in-house True Texas BBQ, with both dine-in and drive-thru service, is a customer favorite. And for many, the real must-try is the warm, buttery tortillas made fresh daily — a simple indulgence that keeps people coming back.
