Out of the hundreds of shopping malls across the United States, two standout North Texas destinations earned national praise. Galleria Dallas and Grapevine Mills were both ranked among the top ten malls in the country by USA Today’s 10Best, recognizing malls that go beyond basic retail and redefine what it means to shop, dine and play under one roof.

The rankings began with a panel of editors and travel experts who evaluated malls based on store variety, dining and entertainment options, accessibility and unique attractions. The final list was determined by public vote, and Texas showed up.

Galleria Dallas: No. 3 in the Nation

Coming in at No. 3 on the list, Galleria Dallas trails only Florida’s Aventura Mall and Minnesota’s Mall of America. It’s not just the more than 200 stores or 30 restaurants that make the Galleria a standout. The mall’s centerpiece, an indoor ice-skating rink, adds a nostalgic and family-friendly twist to the typical shopping day.

Visitors can browse luxury retailers and big-name brands such as Tiffany and Co. and Louis Vuitton, shop for souvenirs at Texas Treasures or the Dallas Cowboys Pro Shop and enjoy a variety of dining options from quick bites to sit-down meals. The rink stays open year-round but draws extra crowds during the holidays, when it becomes the heart of Galleria’s festive programming (and a back-flipping Santa).

Grapevine Mills: No. 8 and Full of Family Fun

Ranked No. 8, Grapevine Mills is full of experiences. With attractions like SEA LIFE Aquarium, LEGOLAND Discovery Center and Peppa Pig's Land of Play, it’s especially popular with families. Add in Rainforest Cafe, a dine-in AMC theater, a gaming bistro and The Escape Room, and there’s entertainment around every corner.

The outlet shopping doesn’t disappoint either. High-end brands like Coach, Saks OFF 5TH and Neiman Marcus Last Call offer deep discounts, while more mainstream favorites keep things approachable for every budget.

Rain or shine, blazing heat or freezing cold, indoor malls provide a welcome retreat from the elements — but that’s only part of their appeal. With a mix of shopping, dining, entertainment and events all under one roof, they offer a convenient and inviting space to spend time. And of course, in Texas, even the malls live up to the state’s reputation for going big and doing it better.
