H-E-B is calling on Texans to help bring a taste of home to service members stationed away from their families. As part of its annual Independence Day tribute, the grocer opened nominations for its Operation Appreciation care packages, which will send 2,000 curated boxes to active-duty military members serving outside the United States.
Nominations opened July 4 and will remain open until the cap of 2,000 submissions is reached. Texans can nominate an active-duty service member by filling out a form at heb.com/militarycarepackages. Packages will begin shipping in mid-August.

What’s in the Box?
Each care package includes popular H-E-B brand products, carefully selected to provide a “taste of Texas.” Every box also contains a handwritten thank-you message penned by H-E-B Partners across the company.
“H-E-B is profoundly grateful for the selfless sacrifice of America’s military heroes, and what better way to honor those who protect the freedoms we celebrate on Independence Day than to send them a taste of home,” said Johnny Mojica, H-E-B public affairs manager, in an official statement.
Keeping the Connection
The nomination form requires complete shipping information to ensure each package reaches its destination. H-E-B advises nominators to include the service member’s full name, rank and accurate military mailing address, especially for those stationed overseas.
Service members are expected to remain at their submitted locations through November to ensure delivery.

More Than a Care Package
The care package initiative is just one part of H-E-B’s broader efforts to support military communities. Since 2013, the company and its charitable partners have provided 55 mortgage-free, fully furnished homes to severely wounded veterans across Texas through its Homes Built for Heroes program.
According to the statement, H-E-B has also hired more than 29,000 veterans and military spouses since 2014 and was recognized by Forbes as a top employer for veterans.
