Comedy + Sports?

Laugh through a match-style game put on by ComedySportz!

These hilarious and improvisational matches feature two teams of players who compete for laughs and points. A referee keeps things moving and calls fouls, just like one would see at a sporting event. Each match consists of an average of seven to twelve games, which are drawn from over a hundred improv games. For example, in “Shakespeare” a team will improvise a scene inspired by audience suggestions in Shakespearean style. In “Forward/Reverse” the referee sends the scene back and forth between the teams, as though scanning a scene in a DVD sending all players into a frenzy.

Variety is created by having each show be unique, with different players and games, and obviously different audiences who are key to bringing new comical ideas. Fans (the audience) are the final judge of the scenes and games, and the final decision makers on winners and losers.

Be ready to jump on stage too, as ComedySportz invites “willing volunteers”  to join in a game or two each match. Don’t worry, they make everyone look great! And bonus to this comedy event, everyone is invited—literally. It’s not uncommon to see anyone from kids to college students, parents to grandparents. No one is offended, and if one of the players do step over the line a “potty mouth foul” is called and a toilet seat is placed over their head. If clean humor isn’t necessarily one’s favorite comedy style, ComedySportz is still worth seeing because they are anything but boring – promise!
