The North Texas Pride Foundation announced that it is now accepting applications for the beneficiary position at its upcoming Come As You Are festival in Plano, Texas.

Each year, the foundation handpicks one local nonprofit organization that receives a portion of the proceeds from the annual event’s earnings. Past beneficiaries have included domestic violence shelters, health and food services, shelters that serve at-risk youth, as well as senior services organizations.

The North Texas Pride Foundation says that all non-profits are eligible to apply, with a focus on organizations that support the LGBTQ+ community and serve communities located north of Highway 635 in the Lone Star State.

The Come As You Are festival is a yearly family-friendly event that celebrates “pride in diversity,” according to the North Texas Pride Foundation.

Slated to take place at the Art Center of Plano on Oct. 12, the festival will offer a number of fun-filled activities such as games, face painting, live music, giveaways and more.

Money raised from the event will go towards supporting the North Texas Pride Foundation’s vision of establishing a permanent location that will be used by organizations for events, meetings, education and as a central resource center to communities north of Highway 635.

Nonprofits interested in applying as a beneficiary of this year’s festival can apply online at www.northtexaspride.com/beneficiary. The application deadline is Aug. 15, 2024.
