If you’re going to steal a car in Plano, maybe don’t start with a Rolls-Royce at a valet stand. That’s what kicked off a high-dollar investigation earlier this month, leading police to uncover a stash of stolen luxury vehicles worth nearly $1.5 million.

From One Car to a Larger Case

The case began on June 6, when a 2024 Rolls-Royce Spectre — valued at over half a million dollars — was stolen from a valet stand outside a high-end restaurant in Plano. What might have initially seemed like an isolated luxury car theft soon unraveled into something far more complex.

Plano Auto Theft Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from the area and quickly identified a suspect vehicle: a 2025 Mercedes S63 AMG. That same vehicle had already been flagged by the Texas Department of Public Safety as part of a broader investigation into suspected organized auto theft.

As detectives began coordinating with state and federal agencies, new pieces of the puzzle began falling into place. The theft of the Rolls-Royce turned out to be just the tip of the iceberg. The suspect vehicle led authorities to a growing list of high-end stolen cars. Within days, what began as a routine investigation into a single stolen car ballooned into a multi-agency probe spanning several jurisdictions and involving more than a dozen vehicles.

Search Warrants and Recovery

On June 11, Plano detectives joined forces with DPS, Dallas Police and the FBI to carry out search warrants at two connected addresses. The search turned up six stolen vehicles, including two Rolls-Royces, a Cadillac Escalade-V, a Maserati Levante and an Audi RS7.

Officers also seized firearms, body armor and tools typically used in car theft.

Three suspects were arrested for theft over $300,000. One remains in custody without bond due to 15 active felony warrants.

“This case highlights the precision, speed and teamwork behind successful investigations,” Plano police said in a Facebook post. “Outstanding work by our auto theft detectives and partner agencies!”

Quick work by Plano detectives, along with help from regional and federal agencies, helped put the brakes on an organized theft ring operating in North Texas.
