As we enter the new year, many set goals that will positively impact their lives. One of those goals is finding a new job. A new study determined Plano, Texas is one of the best places to do just that.

To determine the strongest local job markets in the U.S., WalletHub compared more than 180 cities across 31 key metrics. The data set ranges from job opportunities per job seeker to employment growth to the monthly average starting salary.

According to the study, Plano is the ninth-best city to find a job in 2024. The city came in 33rd place for socio-economics, but ninth for job market. Plano also has one of the highest median annual incomes.

For those seeking a new job, Plano is home to many small businesses, as well as major corporations. From JCPenny to Cinemark, there is something for everyone.

As Local Profile previously reported Plano is not only bringing in new employees, but new living developments as well. Haggard Farms is a 142-acre mixed-used development located on Spring Creek Parkway, between Plano’s Legacy business park and residential neighborhoods, just east of the Dallas North Tollway. The development is set to bring in a range of housing options and several businesses — and that's just one.

In 2023, over 20 Plano companies were among the fastest-growing in the U.S. In North Texas, more than 200 companies made it to the ranking, bringing 30,304 new jobs to the area.

Another report from Forbes Advisor also named Plano as the least risky city for small businesses to operate in. Plano received by far the lowest risk score, earning an astounding 0.00 out of 100, which was ahead of other low-risk cities such as Laredo, Texas (2.78); Raleigh, North Carolina (10.94); Durham, North Carolina (11.20); and Charlotte, North Carolina (14.54).
