Construction for a large Celina development is expected to begin by September 2024. Uptown Celina is set to feature four distinct single-family neighborhoods spanning over 675 acres.

In February 2023, developer Rockhill Capital & Investments announced plans for The Ranch, the first of four parts of the development. But according to The Dallas Morning News, another section is expected to begin construction this year.

The upcoming neighborhood, The Heights, commenced utility work, with the initiation of road paving scheduled for the upcoming months. Infrastructure development is scheduled for 2024, with the potential commencement of new home construction anticipated in 2025. The Heights is expected to hold approximately 416 homes, costing about $35 million.

“We worked closely with the Rockhill team during the planning phase of Uptown Celina to ensure it complements and strengthens our bustling downtown core,” said Celina City Manager Jason Laumer. “Our downtown is the heart of Celina and we are thrilled for future Uptown Celina residents to call it their ‘backyard’ and frequent our local shops, restaurants and family-friendly events.”

The Ranch itself features 150 acres of residential community with more than 450 homes by Taylor Morrison and the Toll Brothers. The development’s first model home is expected to be open for tours by the end of 2024. The other two sections of the development, La Terra and North Square, will have a combined 474 additional homes.

Between the four spaces, amenities will include a pool, dog parks, athletic fields, trails, playground, park, walking paths and open spaces.

“People are drawn to Celina for its sense of community — and the historic downtown square is a huge part of that,” said Ryan Griffin, principal at Rockhill Capital & Investments. “Uptown Celina will be an extension of downtown, offering ‘backyard’ access via its trails. We are excited to advance this project alongside talented builder partners, Taylor Morrison and Toll Brothers, starting with The Ranch at Uptown Celina.”
