Celebrating its 45th anniversary, the 2024 H-E-B | Central Market Plano Balloon Festival is set to take place in the skies of Plano, Texas, from Sept. 19 to 22, 2024. Organized by the Plano Balloon Festival, Inc. and supported by the city of Plano, this event promises a blend of tradition and innovation.
Over 40 pilots will showcase their colorful hot air balloons, creating a spectacle of shapes and colors. In addition to the balloon displays, attendees can enjoy a variety of attractions, including skydiving exhibitions, carnival rides and live performances by acclaimed artists.
The festival's daily schedule is packed with activities, from early morning balloon launches to evening concerts and dazzling glowing balloons in the evenings. However, organizers stress that some events may be weather-dependent, with safety being a top priority. Tickets go on sale in July and the festival will also sell cashless ticketing at the gates.
The festival's schedule caters to all ages, with highlights such as the Plano Symphony Orchestra's family-friendly concert on Thursday, Sept. 19, starting at 7:30 p.m. against the backdrop of glowing hot air balloons. The weekend will include live music performances on the Fox 4 Main Stage, featuring bands like Party Machine and Ice House.
In addition to the main attractions, the Central Market Kids Fun Zone offers free craft activities for young festival-goers, while carnival rides and food concessions ensure there's something for everyone. Visitors can also browse merchandise vendor booths offering hand-crafted artwork, apparel, toys and more.
