The Celina Public Library recently received accreditation from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, unlocking expanded services and resources.

The library announced it met all the accreditation requirements and is now officially recognized as a fully qualified member of the Texas Library System for the state fiscal year 2025, which runs from September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2025.

With the accreditation, the library is eligible for several important benefits, including participation in statewide interlibrary loan (ILL) services. The ILL enables patrons from other libraries to request materials from their collection, and likewise, Celina’s library's patrons can request items from participating libraries. The Navigator ILL program also offers reimbursement to libraries for each loan processed through Navigator. Additionally, libraries are eligible for a subsidy toward the total cost of the TExpress statewide courier subscription if they opt to participate in the program.

The E-Rate federal telecommunications discount program will also be made available, with access to funding opportunities and the TexShare Card and TexShare Databases programs. Accredited libraries can apply for any of the state library’s competitive grants. These are generally programmatic in nature and can vary from year-to-year.

By submitting its Annual Report, the library will continue to receive free materials for the summer library program through this agency and the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP), as well as access to E-Read Texas, a curated statewide e-book collection and platform.
