Plano Police Department’s Detective Hay was named one of just five recipients of the 2025 DA Greg Willis SuperSleuth Award, an honor recognizing the most exceptional investigative work in Collin County.
The award celebrates diligence, tenacity and results-driven detective work, and this year, Detective Hay stood out for all the right reasons.
Leading the Charge Against Organized Crime
Detective Hay was recognized for his central role in a high-impact investigation that led to the dismantling of an organized criminal operation targeting families in Plano, Prosper and McKinney. The coordinated home invasions left communities shaken, but Hay’s pursuit of justice helped restore safety and accountability.
His efforts extended well beyond the initial investigation. He conducted critical suspect interviews, tracked leads across the state and combed through data extracted from multiple phones. He then used that information to build a compelling, detailed map of the group’s movements and tactics, ultimately connecting the dots that led to nine arrests, including the ringleader of the organization.
Going the Extra Mile
When a key Spanish-language interview surfaced shortly before trial, Detective Hay stayed late to translate the entire recording himself, ensuring prosecutors had the tools they needed to make the strongest case possible in court. According to the Collin County Criminal District Attorney's Office, it’s just one example of the dedication he brings to his work every day.
“Because of his work, ten families received justice,” the district attorney's office said. “And a serious threat to our community was stopped cold.”
A Community Grateful for His Service
Because of Detective Hay’s commitment, ten families received justice. His award serves as a reminder of the vital, often unseen role detectives play in keeping North Texas communities safe.
“Detective Hay, thank you for your professionalism, precision and unwavering commitment to public safety,” the district attorney's office said.
